Raicho Hristov was born in Burgas in 1949, where he graduated with a music school - specialty violin. From 1968 to 1976 is a student of choir and orchestra conducting in NMA Sofia in the classes of prof. Anna Belcheva and prof. Vladi Simeonov. Meanwhile he participates in the summer music seminars of the Higher School of Music "Fr.List" in Weimar with professors Arvid Yanson and Igor Markevich. At the end of 1974 he creates the Chamber orchestra "Orpheus" in Pernik, whose conductor is invariably till today. During the 1976/77 season is conductor of Pleven Philharmony. From 1978 for more than 20 years is a professor of chamber music and a conductor of the summer music seminar of the Institute "Michaelstein" in the German town of Blankenburg / Harz. Dozens bulgarian students of DMA Sofia, organized by him as participants in seminars enriched their musical knowledge with the German tradition of performing baroque to contemporary music. Again there Raitcho Hristov implemented numerous premiere performances of the orchestra music of modern german artists, and regularly presents works by bulgarian composers.

In recent years, with the Chamber orchestra "Orpheus" Raitcho Hristov performed concerts across the country apart and a series of tours in Norway, Poland, Germany, Russia, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Spain, Wales, Austria. As a guest conductor of the Canadian simfonieta he was a guest artist recently in Toronto. His name is connected with the premiere performances of music by Krassimir Kurkchiyski, Michael Pekov, Rumen Balyozov, Trifon Silyanovski and other bulgarian authors. His studio recordings are carried out by the Bulgarian National Radio, with "Balkanton" and the German Kreuzberg Records, PMP, Antes Edition and with the English Nimbus Records. He has participated many times in the Art hall - Sofia, in the International music festival in Suonsiy in Wales, in the World Music Festival in Kerkrade - the Netherlands and many others. In recent years, has three nominations for musician of the year and "Golden lyre" of the Union of Bulgarian music and dance figures. At the present, he is conductor of the Student Chamber Orchestra at the National Music Academy in Sofia too.
